Autumn Term

Welcome to Class 2

We are now settled  in to Year 2 life. The classroom looks amazing! We have a wonderful reading area, magical maths area and two SPAG areas. Archie has a lovely place near the window and the role play area so he can always watch us learning.

Wonder in the Woods

Our new topic 'Wonder in the woods' has been interesting so far! We have learnt all about deciduous and evergreen trees. We have investigated what each part of the tree does. We have explored Art in the woodland and the different prints and marks of bark and leaves.

Wellies at the ready!! It's Woodland Week!

WE had the most wonderful week in our Woodland area. We hunted for mini beasts and different types of trees. We discovered the different habitats mini beast like to live in and looked really closely at their features, we didn't know a woodlouse had so many legs!

The Den building was a big success. We worked together to make sure we built a safe, dry den that was big enough for us all to read a book inside. Mrs Moss poured water over our dens to make sure they were water proof...... one group got a little wet!!

We took a walk around the grounds and the village to find out which type of tree was the most common - deciduous or evergreen? It was surprising how many evergreen there was but the most common was definitely deciduous.

To finish the week off we sang campfire songs and had a hot chocolate and marshmallows. IT WAS THE BEST WEEK EVER!!

A special thank you to those parents who supplied the plastic sheets for the week. They were brilliant.

MATHS

Maths is very exciting at the moment. We are looking at 3 digit numbers and place value. We are becoming masters of maths.

We can't wait to see what else year 2 brings!

HEDGEHOG

We rescued a poorly hedgehog who had been walking around the school grounds during the day. We soon learnt that this meant he must have been very poorly.

We wrapped him up in towels and gave him some water whilst we called the vets. The vet told us to take him straight away to be looked after. Whilst we are waiting to hear back we are learning all about hedgehogs and how to look after them because WE LOVE HEDGEHOGS

Shared Reading

We each now have a reading buddy in Class 1. We are READING MASTERS! We love helping the Class 1 pupils with their reading and reading to them. We have lots of questions to ask each other about our books.
