We have settled in really well to class 1 life, it's so much fun here!
We can explore and learn in brand new areas, we love the writing area and have been practising our letter formation.
The reading area is a lovely quiet place where we can go with a friend , the books are amazing!
The Water World let's us pretend we are under water with the fish but be careful....... there is a SHARK!!! We even have a submarine which takes us to all of the Sea's and Ocean's and we can go for a swim.
To support this terms topic of "Water, Water Everywhere", we visited The Deep at Hull at the beginning of October. During our visit we explored 'the world's only submarium' and had the opportunity to take part in an amazing workshop where we looked closely at the weird and wonderful creatures of the deep, finding out about their amazing colours, shapes and patterns.
P.E gives us the chance to become crabs, fish and even a turtle!
We recently celebrated the Queens longest reign by making our own crowns and having a whole school picnic on the field.
We listened to the National Anthem 'God Save Our Queen'
It was so much fun!
We are becoming more hands on with our learning, we have looked at fractions! We now know what half is and have begun to investigate half of quantities.
18th January 2016
It was a chilly Monday night in January and all was calm ............ until class 1 went on a night time walk, armed with their parents and torches, to search for night time life. We had so much fun with our clip boards searching the village, there was even a half moon!
Afterwards we went back to the nice warm, cosy classroom to have a hot chocolate and a story.
A BIG thank you to parents for coming along. It was a great night and we will get a lot of work from it.
Class Assembly - Thursday 28th January
Class 1 worked really hard to prepare for their class assembly. They were amazing and we are so proud of every single one of them. The Israelites were fantastic actors and the 10 commandments did super speaking parts. Moses played his role brilliantly!!
A big thank you to Mr Barclay for all his help and to all our parents/carers for coming to watch us.
Well done Class 1.
We were lucky enough to use Class 5's planetarium where we learnt about the sun and the moon, the pictures are FANTASTIC ! We were amazed! We learnt about the stars and some planets, Mars was our favourite.
We had so much fun learning about which materials are the best to make a rain coat for Mr Ginger. Lots of splashing and lots of fun!!
We are loving having Archie in our class, he makes us so happy. We take it in turns to feed and pet him. He loves jumping around the room and listening to our stories at home time.
Now we have the foundation skills we are now problem solving and completing practical investigations. We are learning how to push our understanding and transfer our skills to become fantastic mathematicians.
Salt Dough Food
Mrs Forrest helped us to create our favourite foods. Once we had designed them we put them in the oven and then decorated them. They look just like the real thing. Yummy!!
Café -Archie's Diner
We love playing in our new Diner. We have made menu's for us to order from, our favourite is the smoothie menu. We take it in turns to write orders down and serve them to customers. we have just added a till with money in so we can practice our money handling.
We had the best day at Piglet's Farm. When we arrived we were greeted by Linda and Gemma. They showed us around the farm and the adventure playground. We went on a tractor ride through the woodland and onto a field where we pulled up some vegetables which had grown in the ground. Later we explored other fruit and vegetables using our senses. Lunch time was good fun in the hut all together. After lunch we had some time in the Adventure playground, we jumped, cycled, ran, dug and even golfed! Then it was time to visit the animals. We fed them carrots and said 'hello' to the Shetland ponies, sheep, goats, cows, donkeys, rabbits, guinea pigs and lots and lots of piglets. We had such a lovely day learning about where our food comes from. We will now use these experiences in the classroom.
