This Spring term we are looking at everything superhero! Mrs Moss knows how much we all love superheroes and has planned lots of exciting activities for us to do. This week we have looked at the amazing and dangerous adventures of 'Traction Man'. We have had our hands in some smelly dishwater, just like the book, to help us create a list of adjectives. We will use our lists to help us make our very own superhero adventures. We are so excited!
P.E. is becoming a lot more adventurous, we have worked closely with Mr Butterworth using apparatus. We can climb, balance and jump from different places. It is fun to hold a superhero balance! Can you see us being Spiderman?
In P.E. we are learning how to hold different balances like a superhero. We are working on building a sequence of different superhero poses. We are all wonderful gymnasts!
We are working hard and experimenting with different instruments to create a fun theme tune which could be for a superhero. We even learnt some new onomatopoeia words!
We cannot wait for our visit to Eureka. We are going to learn all about space, where superheroes like Neil Armstrong go! We will get to learn about different materials which are the best to make costumes from AND we will learn how to keep our bodies healthy and strong just like superheroes do!
World Book Day
We had such a fun day dressing up as our favourite characters. Harry Potter, Gangsta Granny, Queen of Hearts. the BFG were some popular choices.
During the day we shared our books with our shared books with our shared reading partners. It was lovely to hear recommendations of other children, we've got lots of books we would like to read now.
Eureka was the best trip ever!! From start to finish we were exploring and learning. Our first stop was to the science workshop where we learnt all about how astronauts live on the space station. Lorraine showed us how to turn urine into drinking water just like they do in space! Everything she taught us will be a brilliant platform for when we need to invent our own superheroes.
Next we went to the "all about me" gallery. Here we investigated our own bodies and what they can do. We tested how far we could reach and step. We found how strong our senses are and how much we rely on them. We have some great ideas for super powers now. We've experienced such a lot.
The "Global Garden" gallery helped us to develop our understanding of the world and how we can help to look after it. That will give us an idea for a Super Hero story......................
The instructors from East Riding came to give us some scooter training. We learnt how to ride our scooters safely.
