As part of our topic 'Homes Under the Hammer' we took a stroll to see the new house being built down Garth Lane. IT IS HUGE! We looked really closely at all of the equipment and talked about what they are used for. We also spoke about how dangerous building sites can be and how builders stay safe. The best bit was looking at and counting all of the shapes.
We talked about different homes you can get and the homes we live in.
Our educational visit to 'Tropical World' was fantastic, we saw huge plants and butterflies! It was so hot it was like being in the jungle!
We learnt about the different habitats of many different animals, from butterflies to meerkats.
Spring Term 2015
Our topic for this term is 'Blue Planet'. We are having so much fun investigating our Blue Planet. Mrs Forrest has helped us to create our own submarine for us to discover the wonders of the seas and oceans. We are so happy with it we even named it after her.
We love learning about all the different animals and discovering what they do! We are looking forward to our trip to THE DEEP
In P.E. we have been working with Mr Butterworth to improve our Gymnastics skills. We have even explored on to apparatus now too! We are very good gymnasts
The Deep is amazing, so much to see and do!!
We saw so many different kinds of fish. Tropical fish are so colourful and sharks are so BIG! The sword fish was our favourite, along with the huge Rays and 'Nemo fish' (clown fish).
We had a lesson about where certain sea animals live and looked at animals from the dark depths of the sea. Some made their own light so they could find their own food!
We went to the Polar area which had a big ice wall. It was freezing!! We saw a dive show with real scuba divers, they fed a potatoe fish called Eddie; he looked really grumpy.
We have enjoyed working with liquids and exploring how we can measure them. What we hadn't thought of before was why we needed to. Now we know you can measure liquid to make food there is no stopping us!!
During our 'Free to be Different' week, Class 1 looked at India. We explored all the wonderful differences they have compared to us; families, school's, clothes, music, dance, religion and food! We amazed by our findings and would love to visit one day, especially to meet all of their animals!
We had a fun day learning about why we have Comic Relief and why it is so important to help others and appreciate how lucky we are. We did 'Funny for Money' and decorated glasses to make us look silly. We laughed a lot!
This term in music we have been looking at instruments that make sounds similar to water. We read 'Little Turtle and the Song of the Sea' by Sheridan Cain and tried to match instruments to specific sounds and words in the book.
